Jaunt Adventure Gear was founded by adventure enthusiast Jeff Cipriano, who has years of experience paddling and hiking northern California's wilderness areas.
In his early 20's, Jeff and his brother walked out of the local sporting goods store with a couple of whitewater kayaks and jumped head first into what became an addicting hobby for Jeff. Over the next few years he gained experience, more gear, and new friends who pushed him to his limits and beyond. Locally there were plenty of good rivers to run, such as the Merced, the Stanislaus, and the Tuolumne.
It was during this time of adventurous life that Jeff met his future wife, Nicole. She had never kayaked, but was an avid backpacker and hiker. It was common for the two of them to take off into the foothills and the Sierras exploring each others outdoor interests together. On their honeymoon to the East Coast in 1999 Jeff and Nicole were sure to include the outdoors, camping and paddling along the coast of Maine.
In his 30's, Jeffs outdoor experiences began to include 2 energetic dogs, 2 beautiful children, more new friends, and additional gear. Some favorites during this time were bagging the peak of Mt. Shasta, kayaking South Fork Silver Creek, a week long backpacking trip into Lords Meadow in Emigrant Wilderness, and introducing the kids to camping in the redwoods along coastal California.
In the beginning of 2012 Jeff left full-time work. This freed up a lot of time for him and his family to check out a ton of new outdoor places since his wife loves to explore and their kids were quickly becoming pros in the outdoors. Some 2012 favorites were summiting Mt. Lassen with his 9 year old son, family backpacking with friends into Twenty Lakes Basin in Hoover Wilderness, a 4 day raft trip in Hells Canyon, Idaho, with long-time kayaking buddies, and a snowy autumn camping/hiking trip to Jeff's favorite backpacking locale, Mono Pass.
During his year off, Jeff was not only exploring the outdoors with his family and friends, but new career paths as well. He noticed that for each adventure trip he took, he found himself leaving town in order to restock essential gear supplies. The idea for a local gear shop began to take hold, and Jeff was thrilled to combine his outdoors passions with the opportunity to provide his community with a specialty gear shop where he could offer gear and outfitting to the greater Modesto area.
